Résumé

Faced with the climate crisis, industrial livestock farming has become an ecological sinkhole. Is a fully vegan planet feasible ? examines this question using the latest research. The book shows that a well designed vegan diet can reduce an individual's carbon footprint by more than two tonnes and free land for biodiversity. It also demonstrates that such diets benefit health and are often cheaper than omnivorous diets. The author details the challenges : essential supplements, the transition of agricultural jobs, culinary traditions and disinformation campaigns financed by the meat industry. By presenting innovations such as vertical farming and cultivated meat, he opens realistic avenues toward a just and gradual transition. Finally, concrete policies are proposed to support this evolution : subsidies for plant based foods, worker retraining, taxes on polluting foods and nutrition education programmes. An essential book to understand why, even without achieving 100 % veganism, increasing plant foods is one of the most effective actions for protecting the planet and our health.
