Résumé

In The Weight of Roots in a Globalised World, the author takes readers into a world where accelerating exchanges unsettle identities and traditions. Interconnected supply chains, migration and the digital revolution appear to make societies uniform. Yet this essay shows that globalisation also sparks a resurgence of roots : diasporas support their communities through record remittances, populist movements brandish national identity against a globalised economy, and Indigenous peoples demand the revival of their languages. Drawing on recent studies (2024 2025) and concrete examples, the author analyses the paradoxes of a fragmented world : geo economic fracture, digital nomadism, climate threats to intangible heritage. The book proposes ways of reconciling openness and anchoring, emphasising participatory digitisation, protection of cultural rights and transnational cooperation. Publisher : Five Minutes. Collection : REGARDS CROISÉS. A vibrant call to preserve our roots while embracing the world's diversity.
