Résumé

Since people first started to use tools and communicate, we have lived in a world of transformation. But, in the past 10 years or so, our awareness of transformation has stepped to a new level, where the need to understand ‘digital’ and ‘digital transformation’ and the emerging possibilities of digitalisation is a challenge for many managers, leaders and business people. Analysis of the current state of digital capability shows huge potential for benefit IF all possibilities are realised, although some of the key enablers are not yet fully commercially available – for example, in many areas, standards for inter connectedness, and communication between devices and systems are still being developed. Business leaders need to clearly define WHY to adopt digitalisation – to define the business case and spell out the reason to invest in systems, software and training.  However, the BIG WHY of digital transformation is – and will continue to be – how a business creates Value, how to deliver it effectively and efficiently to a customer and how to retain some of that created Value for the business itself. "DigitaLEAN" shows the way forward.
