Résumé

Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald was an American novelist, essayist, and short story writer. He is best known for his novels depicting the flamboyance and excess of the Jazz Age—a term he created and popularized in his short story collection Tales of the Jazz Age. During his lifetime, he published four novels, four story collections, and 164 short stories. Although he achieved temporary popular success and fortune in the 1920s, Fitzgerald received critical acclaim only after his death and is now widely regarded as one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century.Contents:The NovelsTHIS SIDE OF PARADISETHE BEAUTIFUL AND DAMNEDTHE GREAT GATSBYThe Short Story CollectionFLAPPERS AND PHILOSOPHERSTHE OFFSHORE PIRATETHE ICEPALACEHEAD AND SHOULDERSTHE CUT-GLASS BOWLBERNICE BOBS HER HAIRBENEDICTIONDALYRIMPLE GOES WRONGTHE FOUR FISTSTALES FROM THE JAZZ AGEINTRODUCTIONSMY LAST FLAPPERSFANTASIESUNCLASSIFIED MASTERPIECESALL THE SAD YOUNG MENTHE RICH BOYWINTER DREAMSTHE BABY PARTYABSOLUTIONRAGS MARTIN-JONES AND THE PR-NCE OF W-LESTHE ADJUSTERHOT AND COLD BLOOD“THE SENSIBLE THING”GRETCHEN’S FORTY WINKSMISCELLANEOUS STORIESA FREEZE-OUTA NEW LEAFA NIGHT AT THE FAIRAFTERNOON OF AN AUTHORAN ALCOHOLIC CASEAT YOUR AGEBASIL AND CLEOPATRATHE BRIDAL PARTYTHE BOWLDESIGN IN PLASTERDICE, BRASSKNUCKLES & GUITAREMOTIONAL BANKRUPTCYFINANCING FINNEGANFORGING AHEADTHE HOTEL CHILD“I DIDN’T GET OVER”JACOB’S LADDERTHE LOST DECADELOVE IN THE NIGHTMAGNETISMMORE THAN JUST A HOUSENEWS OF PARIS--FIFTEEN YEARS AGOONE TRIP ABROADOUTSIDE THE CABINET-MAKER’STHE ROUGH CROSSINGSIX OF ONE--THE SWIMMERSTHREE HOURS BETWEEN PLANESWHAT A HANDSOME PAIR!THE ORDEALMYRA MEETS HIS FAMILYTHE I.O.U.THE POPULAR GIRLTWO FOR A CENTTHE PUSHER-IN-THE-FACEONE OF MY OLDEST FRIENDSTHE UNSPEAKABLE EGGPRESUMPTIONYOUR WAY AND MINELIPSTICK: A COLLEGE COMEDYTHE LOVE BOATON YOUR OWNBETWEEN THREE AND FOURFLIGHT AND PURSUITA WOMAN WITH A PASTTOO CUTE FOR WORDS,STRANGE SANCTUARYINSIDE THE HOUSELO, THE POOR PEACOCK!ON SCHEDULE,THE PASSIONATE ESKIMOIMAGE ON THE HEARTA FULL LIFESHAGGY’S MORNINGTHREE ACTS OF MUSICTHE ANTS AT PRINCETONIN THE HOLIDAYSTHE GUEST IN ROOM NINETEENTHE LONG WAY OUTTHE WOMAN FROM “21”ON AN OCEAN WAVEDEARLY BELOVEDPAT AT THE FAIR REUNION AT THE FAIRTHE MYSTERY OF THE RAYMOND MORTGAGEREADE, SUBSTITUTE RIGHT HALFA DEBT OF HONORTHE ROOM WITH THE GREEN BLINDSA LUCKLESS SANTA CLAUSPAIN AND THE SCIENTISTTHE TRAIL OF THE DUKELITTLE MINNIE MCCLOSKEYTHE OLD FRONTIERSMANTHE SPIRE AND THE GARGOYLETHE DIARY OF A SOPHOMORETHE PRINCE OF PESTSSENTIMENT — AND THE USE OF ROUGETHE PIERIAN SPRINGS AND THE LAST STRAWCEDRIC THE STOKERPlayTHE VEGETABLEThe PoetryCLAY FEETFIRST LOVEFOOTBALLFOR A LONG ILLNESSFRAGMENTMARCHING STREETS (1919 version)MARCHING STREETS (1945 version)OH, SISTER, CAN YOU SPARE YOUR HEARTLAMP IN THE WINDOWOH MISSELDINE’SPRINCETON — THE LAST DAYTHE STAYING UP ALL NIGHTTHOUSAND-AND-FIRST SHIPOUR APRIL LETTERSAD CATASTROPHEONE SOUTHERN GIRLTO BOATHTHE POPE AT CONFESSIONRAIN BEFORE DAWNThe Non-FictionTHE CLAIMS OF THE LITCONTEMPORARY WRITERS AND THEIR WORKWHO’S WHO — AND WHY“WHAT I WAS ADVISED TO DO — AND DIDN’T”SOME STORIES THEY LIKE TO TELL AGAIN10 BEST BOOKS I HAVE READTHE PAMPERED MENHOW TO LIVE ON $36,000 A YEARHOW TO LIVE ON PRACTICALLY NOTHING A YEARHOW TO WASTE MATERIALPRINCETONTEN YEARS IN THE ADVERTISING BUSINESSECHOES OF THE JAZZ AGEMY LOST CITYONE HUNDRED FALSE STARTSRINGSLEEPING AND WAKING,MY TEN FAVORITE PLAYSTHE CRACK-UPPASTING IT TOGETHERHANDLE WITH CAREAUTHOR’S HOUSEAFTERNOON OF AN AUTHOREARLY SUCCESSPREFACEMY GENERATION
