Résumé

The Libertine of Quality, or My Conversion takes the form of the memoirs of a young man who decides to hire himself out for stud to wealthy older women. Described by Mirabeau himself as “utterly mad” and “a very comical book,” it succeeds both as erotica and as a scathing satirical attack on the decadence of French society immediately before the Revolution.
